Artist Background
Meet Krisandra Kneer, the visionary founder and artist behind iRise NFT. As a queer, neurodivergent woman living with ADHD, depression, and c-PTSD, Kris has always been driven to create change and promote equity. With an educational background from Boston University, Kris holds a BS in Human Physiology/Pre-med, an MS in Medical Sciences, and an MPH in Global Health.
Over the years, she has gained professional exposure in public health and human rights through various roles in organizations such as the Boston Center for Refugee Health and Human Rights, the AIDS Action Committee, and the Massachusetts chapter of the National Alliance on Mental Illness. Kris's personal experiences growing up in a low-income single-parent household with family members living with mental health disorders and substance abuse further fueled her passion for making a difference.
From Med School to Web3 Entrepreneur
In 2019, Kris enrolled in Larner College of Medicine with the intention of addressing the shortcomings of US healthcare, particularly the lack of a holistic approach and failure to consider social determinants of health. However, her experience in the hospital setting left her feeling helpless and burnt out. Realizing that she wanted to support people outside the system and focus on community-driven prevention, Kris discovered NFT technology and founded iRise NFT. This innovative project combines her passion for art with her desire to make a positive impact in ways she had never imagined before the advent of blockchain technology.

Why an iris?
Kris's artwork features the iris as the subject matter, symbolizing the unique perceptions of reality experienced by individuals from diverse backgrounds. She believes that each fiber of the iris represents an experience or memory that together weaves the tapestry of our perception.
Through her art, Krisandra hopes to encourage viewers to consider the bigger picture before casting generalized assumptions or stereotypes and foster a deeper sense of empathy and connection in our society.
